Tori Giblin

Hello there! I’m Tori.

Life is full of questions and uncertainties, but I can help untangle the mess, heal from the hurt, and build the life you want.

I know starting therapy can be intimidating, but I applaud you for taking the leap.

F.A.Q.

Is therapy right for me?

Most people begin therapy because they are experiencing an issue that is causing distress or interfering with daily living. Distress can be anything from negative thoughts, feelings, behaviors, or even bodily sensations like pain, fatigue, or stomach issues.

What type of therapy is right for me?

If you have experienced a traumatic event that causes you to have nightmares, flashbacks, or panic attacks, EMDR therapy may be beneficial for you.

What is the goal of therapy?

Talk therapy involves exploring the self and learning new ways to relate to yourself, others, and the world. In our first session together, we will discuss your goals and the changes in your life that you would like to see as a result of therapy. We will spend subsequent therapy sessions taking steps towards your therapy goals and addressing any new concerns.

What happens in a therapy session?

In virtual therapy sessions, I will need to verify your location at the beginning of each session. This is to ensure your safety if anything happens during our call. In our first session together, we will discuss your current symptoms and stressors, as well as past experiences, family dynamics, social supports, and medical concerns. First, because we are meeting virtually, I will need to verify your location at the beginning of each session. This is to ensure your safety if anything happens during our call. Next, we will spend time checking in on how things are going, progress you’ve made on your goals, and processing any issues or concerns you have. I will guide you through new coping skills or activities that will help you reach your therapy goals. Finally, as we end the session, we will recap what was discussed, identifying any homework or action steps for you to take before the next session, and schedule our next session together.

How do I start therapy?

To schedule your first appointment or answer any further questions, please send me an email at mailto:hello@torigiblin.com.

Can my spouse join my therapy session?

I do not provide couples or family counseling services. However, spouses may join a session on a case-by-case basis to address how they can support you, my client, throughout your mental health journey. This must be discussed with me ahead of time, and a release of information form will need to be signed before your spouse may join a session.

Can my child receive therapy?

I only provide services for clients 18 years and older.

How much does a session cost?

My standard self-pay fee for a one-hour session is $150, and $200 for a 90-minute EMDR session. Other rates are available upon request.

Do you accept insurance?

I accept United, Aetna, and BCBS insurances, and most often the client is only responsible for their deductible and/or copay.

What if I have to reschedule or cancel an appointment?

If you are unable to attend an appointment, you must provide more than 24 hours advance notice to our office via email, voicemail, or text message. Failure to do so will result in a $100.00 cancellation fee. If you are more than 15 minutes late to your scheduled appointment, the session will be canceled, and you will be responsible for the late cancellation fee. Late Cancellation or No-Show fees are not covered by Insurance.

Can I receive therapy outside of South Carolina?

Currently, I can only see clients when they are physically located in South Carolina.

How should I prepare for my first session?

Upon scheduling your first session, you will be emailed a link to my client portal. Before your first session, I will send you consent forms, insurance/payment forms, a questionnaire, and assessments through the client portal. These documents must be completed 24 hours before your first session, or your session will be canceled.

Do you offer in-person services?

I only offer virtual therapy services at this time. Virtual or telehealth, also referred to as online therapy, allows a client to have broader access to care. I can provide counseling over the internet through video conferencing calls or telephone calls. I do encourage clients to video conference when possible because that visual connection can make a big difference during therapy sessions.

Where should I do therapy?

It is important to maintain privacy and confidentiality during your virtual therapy sessions. Clients should be in a private space with no other persons around or in the room. Some clients join from their car if they do not have a private space at home or work, but clients cannot be driving during a session.

What do I need for virtual therapy?

A stable internet or cell service will be needed to ensure a strong connection during the call. Virtual therapy can be done from a smartphone, computer, or tablet, but please ensure that your device is fully charged to avoid any disconnections.

Do you prescribe medication?

No. I refer clients to a psychiatrist for medication management.
