“There is HOPE, even when your brain tells you there isn’t.”
— John Green
Hello there! I’m Tori.
Life is full of questions and uncertainties, but I can help untangle the mess, heal from the hurt, and build the life you want.
I know starting therapy can be intimidating, but I applaud you for taking the leap.
Your Roadmap to Healing
-
1
Initial Contact and first session
Your journey begins with a simple email or online inquiry. In our first session together, we will discuss your goals and the changes in your life that you would like to see as a result of therapy. We will also discuss your current symptoms and stressors, past experiences, family dynamics, social supports, and medical concerns.
-
2
Personalized treatment plan
Based on what was discussed in your first session, we will create a treatment plan that best suits your needs. I use a variety of evidence-based practices, and can give you recommendations on which treatment may help you reach your goals.
-
3
Making progress and adjusting goals
During each session, we will spend time reviewing the progress you’ve made on your goals and processing any new issues or concerns you have. I will guide you through strategies or activities that will help you make changes and see progress. We will regularly review your goals and make adjustments as needed. Finally, as we end the session, we will recap what was discussed, identify any homework or action steps for you to take before the next session, and schedule our next session together.
-
4
Graduation and continued support
Once you’ve achieved your goals or feel ready to conclude therapy, I will help you create a plan for maintaining the progress we made on your own.
F.A.Q.
Therapy 101
Is therapy right for me?
Most people begin therapy because they are experiencing an issue that is causing distress or interfering with daily living. Distress can be anything from negative thoughts, feelings, behaviors, or even bodily sensations like pain, fatigue, or stomach issues.
What type of therapy is right for me?
If you have experienced a traumatic event that causes you to have nightmares, flashbacks, or panic attacks, EMDR therapy may be beneficial for you. Talk therapy may be helpful for those struggling with depression, anxiety, burnout, stress, life transitions, and other struggles.
What is the goal of therapy?
Therapy involves exploring the self and learning new ways to relate to yourself, others, and the world. In our first session together, we will discuss your goals and the changes in your life that you would like to see as a result of therapy. We will spend subsequent therapy sessions taking steps towards your therapy goals and addressing any new concerns.
How should I prepare for my first session?
Upon scheduling your first session, you will receive a link to my client portal via email. I will send you consent forms, insurance/payment forms, a questionnaire, and assessments through the client portal. These documents must be completed 24 hours before your first session, or your session will be canceled.
Do you prescribe medication?
No. I refer clients to a psychiatrist for medication management.
How do I start therapy?
To schedule your first appointment or answer any further questions, please send me an email at hello@torigiblintherapy.com.
Billing
How much does a session cost?
My standard self-pay fee for a one-hour session is $150, and $200 for a 90-minute EMDR session. Sliding scale rates are available upon request.
Do you accept insurance?
I accept United, Aetna, and BCBS insurances, and most often the client is only responsible for their deductible and/or copay.
What if I have to reschedule or cancel an appointment?
If you are unable to attend an appointment, you must provide more than 24 hours advance notice via email, voicemail, or text message. Failure to do so will result in a $100.00 cancellation fee. If you are more than 15 minutes late to your scheduled appointment, the session will be canceled, and you will be responsible for the late cancellation fee. Late Cancellation or No-Show fees are not covered by insurance.
The ins and outs of virtual therapy
Do you offer in-person services?
I only offer virtual therapy services at this time. Virtual or telehealth therapy allows a client to have broader access to care. I can provide counseling over the internet through video conferencing calls or telephone calls. I do encourage clients to video conference when possible because the visual connection can make a big difference during sessions.
Can I receive therapy outside of South Carolina?
Currently, I can only see clients when they are physically located in South Carolina.
Where should I do therapy?
It is important to maintain privacy and confidentiality during your virtual therapy sessions. Clients should be in a private space with no other persons around or in the room. Some clients join from their car if they do not have a private space at home or work, but clients cannot be driving during a session. Because we are meeting virtually, I will need to verify your location at the beginning of each session. This is to ensure your safety if anything happens during our call.
What do I need for virtual therapy?
A stable internet or cell service will be needed to ensure a strong connection during the call. Virtual therapy can be done from a smartphone, computer, or tablet, but please ensure that your device is fully charged to avoid any disconnections.
